A defibrillator was this afternoon presented to the law courts by the Malta Heart Foundation.

This is an electronic device which sends an electric shock to the heart to stop an extremely rapid, irregular heartbeat, and restore the normal heart rhythm.

The machine, which costs around €1,700, will be kept in the first aid room of the court house on the ground floor.

The foundation donated the machine to be used in case of heart failure by court staff or visitors.
