Superb Christmas concert all round
The Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 21, at St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta with Dion Buhagiar as director, was superb.
The forever awe-inspiring cathedral was full of seats for everyone. There were printed programmes on every seat. The organisation was perfect.
The concert was attended by hundreds who queued civilly, with the queue stretching into Zachary Street. We gave a standing ovation.
All players, singers and the conductor deserved it. Such a concert, at this time of year, merited a retiring collection for the Community Chest Fund.

We have been to the concert. While I agree that the Cathedral was packed like sardines, may I point out our impressions that the repertoire deprived a selective choice of popular Carols. The singer who chanted ‘’O holy night'' was simply awful, perhaps next time Maestro Buhagiar should see some youtube visions of it before directing that piece to that singer.
Performing the sumptuous music of Handel’s Halleluiah with a limited orchestra and no percussion was existing is like baking a fruit cake without the fruits. Better not do it than do it half baked.
The selection of parts from the Messiah oratorio was out of amalgamation in combination with the popular Christmas carols and it was quite evident the audience became annoyed for the fact that during that moment several numbers were leaving their seats.
