Baby Dale was the first child to be born in 2010 when he popped into the world at 2 a.m.

His parents, Clive Pulis and Redianne Bonello, were beaming with happiness as they held their first child who was meant to have been born next week.

“We’re really happy. No words can describe the feeling,” Ms Bonello said as her eyes glittered.

Four hours after Dale’s birth, Amy Anne was born in another delivery room at 6.30 a.m. Her parents, Sonia and John Debono, too did not expect their second child to be born before next week.

“However, it’s a great new year’s present,” they agreed adding that their seven year old daughter, Chantelle, was also thrilled to meet the new tiny family addition.

Dale and Amy Anne were the first two babies to be born in 2010.

Parliamentary Secretary for Health Joe Cassar toured the wards at Mater Dei Hospital this morning and handed out small gifts, a glass teddy bear, to mothers and mothers-to-be there.
