The country’s leaders this morning received New Year greetings from well wishers - President George Abela at the Palace in Valletta, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at Castille, Opposition leader Joseph Muscat at the party’s headquarters in Ħamrun and the Archbishop Paul Cremona at the Archbishop’s Palace in Valletta.

In his message the President said the time had come for the powers of the President to be strengthened for the President to continue enjoying the people's respect.
