Updated: Vodafone's service restored
Vodafone's prepaid service has been restored following a technical fault which lasted four hours.
The company said it experienced the fault, which created a disruption in service to pre-paid customers, at around 11 a.m.
Not all pre-paid customers were affected.
Vodafone said that the rest of its services and customers were not affected by the fault. It apologised for any inconvenience caused.

dear all,
as a paying customer you deserve the best ,as well i my self use GO as a service and still like you all had complaints that is why i changed . this does not mean that VODA is not good but sometimes we need to change to check and gain from competitions .adding to this it doesn't matter whit whom you are these things can happen all the time like the power cuts we had two months ago rise in fuel rise in cost of living but these are not that critical no ? NO ONE COMPLAINED ABOUT OUR REAL LIFE SITUATIONS AND THE MOST ESSENTIAL THINGS AM I RIGHT ? so a technical fault remains a technical fault but when it is something more damadging thats ok where we have to say (so LE MHUX XORTA is the motto for 2010). as well vodafone offers the free smses and mmses on the web site like GO so at least in an emergency one can use that for any emergency purpose . lets not make this an issue and lets look forward to get out PERFECT WORLD .happy new year and may god bless you all.

uwejja guys.. chill out... i have been a vodafone customer for years and this is the FIRST TIME that this has ever happened.
as well said by Edward Vella i guess you have never opened the terms and cons page on each providers website which clearly states that service cannot be guaranteed always 100%.
and for those of you who say that they need to be compensated, y compensated? lol i dont think you have used ur fone during the down time so no money spent.. btw, how much do u spend each month?
unfortunately for those who dont have any idea of what technical problems mean will obviously comment from their backside. have u ever used a pc today, and the day afterwards it just wont start? well ask the pc for a compensation then! well unfortunately some problems cannot be foreseen, and if it could have been foreseen im sure this would have never happened! as said before, Vodafone was the one to lose.

If you sign up with any company, you agree to the terms an conditions and in it voda just like GO Nd any other company Safeguard themselves from such problems. So ironically you people who complained proved you don't read these prints yet you complain to what you agreed to

Even if Bay Mobile was still around it would very likely have been out of service as well (depending on what exactly the fault consisted of) as it used the Vodafone infrastructure.
I wonder if any Red Touch customers were also hit by this problem as they are also almost entirely dependant on the Vodafone infrastructure.
I suppose they also have a prepaid service, though I'm not sure.

In a civilised world you should be compensated for bad service and a bad apple. Let us not start another year with the phrase 'mhux xorta' LE mhux xorta !!- you paid for the apple and the service and you deserve the best!! Having said that Vodafone is one of the few companies on the island who will write to you to apologise for any lack of service.
Happy new year to all including Vodafone - but lets starts the year with some self esteem - we deserve the best! so LE MHUX XORTA is the motto for 2010

you do not even need a sim card to contact emergency services. You can dial 112 from any mobile phone, even without a sim card inserted.

I am one of those customers and I still have no service since trying to send texts to my family yesterday. I have been a customer for hears and am frustrated and annoyed that my family in Whangarei are not able to contact me as I have no service and visa versa. I find this very serious as I saw an accident last night at 2pm and had no service to report this. What if someone needed help? This is beyond rediculous 4 hours than why have I still got no service?

The ones complaining here clearly do not know how this stuff works. Maybe when u have something broken in your home you should demand compensation to yourselves!
The biggest loser in all of this is vodafone cos it has lost profts during the interruption. Now if you cannot spend 4 hrs without a mobile, you should really get a lof cos Life is NOW!!
PS: I am not a vodafone customer, still the complaints are utter ridiculous.
Now i DEMAND compensation from enemalta for power failures, for TVM for the 'niskuzaw tal qtugh ta trazmisjoni'. Heck, i even want compensation from the greengrocer up the street cos there was a bad apple with the delicious ones i bought.
Now i'll go to have some fun for nye and if someone dares to talk to me in an unfriendly manner, i ll demand compensation from him too!!

PS @ all the moaners out there. Get a life! Yes its inconvenient , but as Dick Cheney once said 'stuff happens', and that 'stuff ' was kids being killed. So get some perspective will you. Luke Buttigieg ,
Still they have to compensate their subscribers with what has happened .Most probably it was not their fault but still to have no service for hours not minutes on New Year's eve is something that needs attention.
Try and settle a bill for their service a bit late and they will charge you for that delay. They don't care if you were ill ,abroad or bankrupt!

I personally think you are Vodafone BRAINWASHED !!!
Who do you think you are to tell me not to complain if i am paying for a service. It just goes to show that you guys have never paid for services outside of this tiny Island. Yes, we should get compensated and Vodafone should have some sort of backup if they dont want to give compensation.
Hey guys, we have Melita, Go Mobile, MTV Mobile, Bay Mobile etc.... Beging 2010 on a good note...change service providers !!

@P. Muscat- Yes, you are right. They should foresee these problems before they occur, because this is not news. Such problems have occured on other peak days too.

To all
Rest assured that Vodafone has always been at the forefront in hearing to the plight of it's customers , in delivering outstanding value to it's customers and in fullfilling it's social responsabilities.
Unfortunately such problems as with all technology do happen.
I am more than 100% certain that all involved are working relentlessly to have this issue resolved as soon as possible despite the fact that most involved would have liked to enjoy the end of year festivities.
