The contribution by the Gozitan fishing and agricultural sector to the island's GVA amounted to 4.9 per cent.
In industry, Malta registered a one per cent increase in GVA while Gozo registered a decline of 0.4 per cent.
Employment rose in Malta and Gozo in 2008, mainly due to increased activity in the services sector. The primary and industry sectors had declines in employment but Gozo's agricultural and fishing sector registered increases.

a. What is the total GDP for 2008?
b. What is Gozo's % contribution to that?
c. How much does each individual of working age contribute (per capita) towards the GDP - in Malta & in Gozo respectively.
d. What is the direct contribution that Maltese & Gozitan workers are respectively putting in favour of the national deficit?
e. Can the potential growth of both islands on their respective merits and resources be estimated in time and wealth?
f. If the answer to e. above is in the positive, then are we exploiting this enough?
g. Finally after answering all above, is the Government of Malta assisting Gozo enough? And similarly are the Gozitans pulling the same amount of rope as Maltese?
Which brings to the conclusion ... is a Ministry for Gozo Affairs enough? If not, can there be a better solution to the matter of Governance in Gozo by enhancing administrative and operational control especially with respect to social matters and overall resources?
Many more statistics are required to analyse the picture holistically including those on demographics with special focus on age groups for this will also have a direct impact on the varied contributory factors.
