Parma won the Christmas Cup after victories over Maltese sides Valletta (3-1) and Hibs (4-0) in a friendly tournament played at the Hibs Stadium this evening.
Hibs started their commitments with a 3-1 win over Valletta. Ben Camilleri and Jonathan Pearson put the Paolites 2-0 up inside the opening 16 minutes but Steve Borg narrowed the deficit for Valletta with a strong header.
The Paolites sealed their victory when Chris Camilleri converted a penalty three minutes from the end.
In the second match, Parma chalked up a 3-1 victory over Valletta.
Nicola Amoruso fired Parma ahead when converting a penalty, Stefano Morrone doubled their advantage and David Lanzafame sealed their victory after Irish striker Declan O'Brien, who was making his first appearance for Valletta, had halved the deficit.
Parma, who are in the midst of a week-long training camp, sealed top spot with a 4-0 victory over Hibs in the third and decisive match.
Massimo Pace hit a brace for Parma with Valeri Bojinov and Paolo Hernan Dellafiore notching the other goals.
