Five publishers have received a financial grant from the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund towards the production of educational, science and history books.

Finance Minister Tonio Fenech, who presented the grant, said he was happy to support Maltese authors who contributed additional knowledge and value to society through their extensive research and dedication.

The beneficiaries are: Nathalie Anne Vella Portelli, for publishing educational books in Maltese to encourage paired reading for children and adults; the Entomological Society of Malta, for the publication of the Scientific Journal; Joe Smith for the publication of Survivors, Ageing Population of Birgu; Joe Zammit Ciantar, for the publication of Il-Priedki bil-Malti ta' Ignazio Saverio Mifsud; and Mgr Anton Saliba, for the publication of a number of educational books in Maltese.

A total of €1.5 million was distributed throughout this year to assist social, educational, cultural and sporting causes.
