Baron Group is looking into the possibility of investing in a number of green technology initiatives in the coming year. Directors Xavier Tabone and Anthony Ellis have said the group's future plans include further development and growth within the tourism and property sectors.

They were speaking during a recent visit by President George Abela to the group's head office in Victoria.

After meeting the group's management and employees, Dr Abela was taken to visit 'The Hamlet' in Għasri, one of the recently launched properties rented out by Baron Group, and the 16th century St Cecilia chapel, the restoration of which is being funded by the group.

The President was especially impressed with the high standard of the group's properties. He commended the group for its commitment towards the development of Gozo's economy and towards ensuring the safeguarding of part of the island's historical heritage.

Thanking Dr Abela for his visit, Mr Tabone and Mr Ellis explained how the group started 20 years ago as a small turnkey operation in Gozo. It then grew into a network of companies with diverse interests and investments spread across both islands, mainly in land developing and real estate.

The group has also established a strong and active presence within the tourism sector, with the rental of upmarket holiday homes, as well as in the insurance and finance business.
