Record sum collected in piggy bank campaign
A record total of €45,115 have been raised by the BOV Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign 2009.
This was the result of a highly successful three month long campaign that saw the distribution of over 7,000 piggy banks in schools around Malta and Gozo.
This year’s campaign saw Bank of Valletta and the Malta Community Chest Fund collaborate in a nation-wide fund raising drive that involved thousands of children in state, church and private schools. A selection of retail outlets located in Malta’s main shopping areas also participated and collected additional funds from the general public.
Children are this afternoon accompanying bank of Valletta CEO Tonio Depasquale to present the funds during the live broadcast of Istrina.

Fantastic, considering that a considerably large part of this sum came from students and school children.
