Were you dreaming of a warm Christmas?
Santa Claus will have to remove his cloak when he reaches Malta this Christmas Eve, as temperatures reach abnormal highs.
Today, the temperature is forecast to reach a high of 21˚C and the minimum is expected to be a tame 15˚C, according to the Meteorological Office at Malta International Airport.
Christmas Day is expected to be one of the warmest on record with fair weather and high clouds.
A moderate wind is likely to blow in a south-westerly direction, changing to northwest later in the day, with a forecast maximum temperature of 19˚C and a minimum of 15˚C.
The average temperatures in Malta over the last 20 years for the December 21-31 period ranged from a high of 16.1˚C to a low of 10.7˚C.
Boxing Day will be slightly cooler, cloudy turning mostly cloudy, with a maximum temperature of 17˚C and a minimum of 11˚C. There is also a chance of showers in some places.
Alas, the weather in popular destinations for the Maltese will not be as clement, with rain in London and Rome and a chance of snow in Brussels.

... and in Summer, what about air-conditioning costs? If the trend continues, and the polar ice melts, what will provide a heatsink for the excess heat retained by the planet?
The truth is, that once the ice melts, its temperature will start to rise: no more latent heats, unless one reaches 100C!
