Firefighters this evening quickly controlled a fire which broke out in a refuse truck near St George's fireworks factory on the road between Qormi and Zebbug.

A number of fire engines were deployed to the site amid fears that the blaze would spread to other trucks parked nearby, and also the fireworks factory itself, but the danger was averted. No one was injured.
