Jean Paul Mamo, 33, has been jailed for 18 months after he admitted stealing mobile phones from Melita and Vodafone stands in Valletta and Floriana.

The thefts took place last February.

He also admitted stealing cash from three people.

The court in its sentence considered that the man had previous convictions.

FINED FOR ILLEGAL EMPLOYMENT

In a separate case, Joseph Degiorgio, 65 of Rabat, has been fined almost €3,000 after he admitted in court to having employed a foreign man. The man was employed in October and the ETC was not informed, the court was told.
