Johan Sciberras, 33 of St Paul's Bay, was given a suspended jail term today after he admitted shoplifting in Constitution Street, Mosta, on December 12.

He admitted stealing a Nikon digital camera after he was caught in the act by closed circuit television.

He also admitted relapsing, having stolen a bike in 1997.

Police Inspector Edmond Cuschieri asked the Magistrate to hand down a suspended sentence as a deterrent.

The court imposed a five-month jail term suspended for a year.
