President George Abela left hospital yesterday morning after being treated for dehydration after fainting at a friend's funeral earlier in the week.

Dr Abela was admitted to hospital on Friday morning, after he passed out during entrepreneur Angelo Fenech's funeral at the Qormi St George parish church.

He was administered intravenous fluid after a medical examination revealed that his blood pressure had plummeted because of dehydration.

A spokesman for his office said Dr Abela yesterday spent the day resting and was asked to take it easy but is shortly expected to resume his duties.
