@Tony Mangion - My friend you must have forgotten what Miontoff has once said when in Malta we had some 10,000 unemployed persons at a time when the actual number of the working population was much lower than what it is to-day. Mintoff has admitted that HE wished he was successful in creating jobs, as much as obtaining financial aid for Malta - "Nixtieq li kont kapaci nohloq impiegi ghall-haddiema daqs kemm irnexxili ngib flus ghall Malta".
This coupled with the fact that despite the present global depression we are facing, tiny Malta has succeeded to keep the level of unemployment quite low when compared to much larger economies and countries, such as Spain, Eireland, Greece and UK - not to mention Poland, and other East EU countries.

If i read another W&E comment, i'll probably puke... Everyone is so brainwashed, it's as if the bills are going to quadruple. So, merry christmas to both parties, and i reserve judgement and comment about the HUGE W&E bills when i receive them. Now excuse me cos i have to go light up my christmas tree..

@J. Martinelli (2 hours, 36 minutes ago) Too bad you cannot realize that you have to pay for what you consume! Use less - pay less. Unfortunately here we are not paying for what we comsume but for the inefficience of this government that lost his way and does not know how to get out of the mess he has left the country in....

@ J. Farrugia As usual you go against the grain. There are far more pressing issues facing us that need immediate attention than having a Christmas break. The W & E price hike, for instance.

Oh nice news !!!, of course they rush to do so, especially with the latest fiasco in the parliament. Wishing us the nice Christmas and New Year, with huge and higher bills next year and increased unemployment . Come on gave us a longer break.

Happy holidays to Dr Gonzi & all the others involved in the running of the P.N. Hope that some of your new year's resolutions would be to create jobs for those who are jobless, make sure that there will be no shortage of medicine at the Government dispensaries and that whoever goes to the Mater Dei hospital in the emergency section will be attended to without undue delay.

How much nicer would it be if both political parties cease their activities completely during the nine winter months and have a rest during the three remaining summer months!!!!!

Mary Mary quite contrary. Instead of thanking the PN for giving you a politically free christmas, the usual labourites are still bemoaning that Christmas is here. Sour grapes Mary.

@ Mary Mizzi Too bad you cannot realize that you have to pay for what you consume! Use less - pay less. The rest of the world is accepting this because the cost of energy production has risen sharply, so why should you get something for anything less than it costs to produce? You just reflect the negative attitude of the LP for nothing better to do. Would you have been happier if the government left the tariffs as they are but cut down on Social Services and/or increased your taxes? Can't have it both ways, you know! And this is exactly why Joseph lacks credibility. Merry Christmas!

Pity the PN is not halting the increases in the W & E increases in surcharges for the New year
