The major local warden agency in Malta, Guard and Warden Service House Ltd (GWSHL), celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana, in which continuous service certificates were given out to 45 local wardens.

Speaking before the presentations, Kenneth De Martino, managing director of GWSHL, paid tribute to all local wardens, active and retired, who have contributed over the years.

Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said said the document outlining the reforms to the Local Enforcement System had been finalised and will be implemented in January 2010.

Nine local wardens received certificates for 10 years of continuous service during last Wednesday's ceremony. Over 30 wardens received five-year continuous service awards and the senior grades in the company, duty officers, field officers and inspectors, received a certificate of Higher Ranking Officer.

Among the guests were Opposition local councils spokesman Stefan Buontempo, several mayors and authorising officers and top officials from the KDM Group of Companies.
