The governor of Rotary District 2110 (Sicily and Malta), Francesco Arezzo, visited the Maltese Rotary clubs last weekend to familiarise himself with the clubs' work and meet members.

The visit coincided with the 42nd charter anniversary of Rotary Club Malta. The governor was accompanied by his wife, Anna Arezzo, and the district secretary, Giombattista Sallemi, and his wife Maria Theresa.

The activities started with a visit to President George Abela at the Palace, Valletta, together with the leaders of the three clubs in Malta.

During this visit, Mr Arezzo informed Dr Abela of Rotary's objectives and the many projects undertaken by the clubs in Malta and overseas, including the work undertaken by Rotary International in the global fight against polio.

Mr Arezzo also visited Dar il-Kaptan, Mtarfa, which has been strongly supported by the clubs. He offered a donation on behalf of the Rotary District of Sicily and Malta to assist the home's operations.

He also visited projects at the Ursuline Sisters and St Patrick's in Sliema and was given a tour of Sannat primary school, where Rotary Club Malta recently inaugurated a project aimed at providing access to drama facilities for the school's Special Needs Unit.

The governor and his team were hosted to a dinner at the Auberge D'Aragon by the Rotary Club Malta president John de Giorgio and Rotary Club La Valette president Douglas Salt. The dinner was attended by 126 members and their guests.
