School raises €9,015 for charity

A charity fundraising weekend held recently by St Theresa College girls' junior lyceum, Mrieħel, in conjunction with Gestfest, succeeded in raising €9,015 for charity.
Of the funds collected, €3,800 will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund, €2,550 will go to Caritas (Malta) and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will be allocated €875, while €1,300 will be put into the school's benevolent fund, which assists students with special needs.
The various beneficiaries were represented at the event by Margaret Abela, chairperson of the Malta Community Chest Fund, Fr Karm Farrugia, director of Caritas (Malta), and Josette Falzon, chairperson of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and school head Robert Borg.
The weekend of activities included a 1.5 kilometre fun run, in which 850 students from various schools forming part of the college took part, including the primary schools of Birkirkara, Lija, and St Venera, St Theresa girls' junior lyceum, Ta' Paris boys' secondary, St Venera boys' secondary, St Clare girls junior lyceum and St Benedict boys' college.
The weekend events also included a sports day, a bazaar, a gymnastics display, a programme of singing by students and guest singers, and an art exhibition.
