Excelsior wins another two expedia.com awards

The Grand Hotel Excelsior recently won two awards from giant online travel booking company Expedia.com.

The platinum award was won for the highest number of room/nights booked through the Expedia site.

The premium award was won for the highest gross revenue generated for those rooms compared to other hotels in Malta.

The hotel, which won another expedia.com award last July, was also recognised as one of the top one per cent of hotels in the world for quality of guest experience.

The Expedia Insiders' Select 2009 is a listing of top hotels ranked on value and quality.

Until last month, over 96,504 room nights in Malta were booked through expedia.com, compared to almost 89,000 throughout last year.

Despite the higher booking rate volumes, revenues were down on last year. Over €7.5 million were generated through the site between January and September this year, compared to about €8 million for last year.
