An Adventure Park on a section of the former runway at Ta' Qali will be inaugurated this evening by the Prime Minister.
The park has been set up by the Resources Ministry assisted by sponsorships by Bank of Valletta and the US Embassy.
Particular features include an interactive water fountain, where water jets shoot up as children step near them, and rope courses for the young and not-so-young, with one of them being two storeys high.
The park marks the fourth extension of the National Park.
It has five areas for children, one multi-purpose space, and a high rope course for young adults. More adventure equipment will be added next year, including a climbing tower, and a cycling and jogging track.
The project includes five water features, public conveniences, catering facilities and changing rooms. There will also be play equipment for persons with disabilities.
Bank of Valletta has reached an agreement with the ministry for ongoing maintenance of the park.
A family day will be held tomorrow, with entertainment for children.
