Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year contract extension that will prolong his stay at Manchester United beyond the 20-year mark to at least 2011, the club said yesterday.

The 36-year-old winger joined United in 1990 and has since made over 800 appearances for the club.

"Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years," United manager Alex Ferguson told the club's website (www.manutd.com).

"His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football."
