Camoranesi: Italy midfielder Mauro Camoranesi will be out for two months with an injured thigh, his club Juventus said. The Argentine-born 33-year-old was injured in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Bari that saw Juve slip to six points behind Serie A champions and leaders Inter. "The player is feeling better, he's walking without crutches," Juve said. "The prognosis is a period of two months (recovery)."
Liverpool: Liverpool face the prospect of potentially tough opponents in their first experience of the Europa League after UEFA confirmed they will not be seeded for today's knockout stage draw. Poor goal difference in the Champions League groups means Rafael Benitez's side miss out on being among the 16 top seeds for the Europa League.
Lescott: Problems mounted for Manchester City yesterday when the Premier League club said defender Joleon Lescott would be out of action for around six weeks after requiring knee surgery. Lescott's injury, sustained in the 3-3 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, is a further blow for manager Mark Hughes whose side lost 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday to leave them with just one win in their last 10 Premier League games.
Fabregas: Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will miss tomorrow's Premier League home match against Hull City with a hamstring injury. The Spain midfielder hobbled off in the first half of Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Burnley, shortly after scoring. "If it is a tear it is a small one and the maximum would be 10 days (out). So it is not long-term," manager Arsene Wenger said.
Motor racing: Inexperienced drivers drafted in by Formula One teams as replacements during the 2010 season will be allowed a day of testing before they race, the FIA said. A rule change posted on the FIA website said drivers who had not taken part in a race during the previous two calendar years would be allowed one day of testing at a circuit not on the current calendar.
Baseball: Japanese slugger Hideki Matsui, the World Series Most Valuable Player for the New York Yankees, signed a one-year contract worth 6.5 million dollars with the Los Angeles Angels. The deal sends the 35-year-old free agent designated hitter to the AL West division champions whom the Yankees defeated in the first round of the playoffs on their way to a record 27th Major League Baseball crown.
American football: Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died yesterday from injuries suffered in a fall from a pickup truck, police said. Henry died at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he had been taken by paramedics after the fall on Wednesday.
