A young Nigerian university student who is pleading not guilty to possessing 240 grammes of heroin and money laundering was yesterday granted bail.

Charity Ofame Ovbiagele, 23, of Naxxar was allegedly caught by the police with the drugs at her flat following investigations into money laundering which led to her, police sources said.

She was first arraigned on October 6 and was granted bail yesterday.

Ms Ovbiagele was granted bail against a deposit of €15,000, a personal guarantee of €25,000 and a further €15,000 as an assurance to stick to her bail conditions, which was signed by her mother.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted.

Lawyers Gianella and Gianluca Caruana Curran appeared for the accused.
