I am an animal lover and yes, I do protest about animal circuses. The difference between guide dogs and the animals in the circus is that dogs love human company. (Abnormal Life Of Guide Dogs For The Blind, Charles Camilleri, December 17). Although they have a different life to a normal dog they still enjoy the company of their new owner.

It is silly to compare guide dogs with circus animals because most circus animals are wild animals and by their nature they are not meant to be tamed to entertain and be locked up in cages. Wild animals are supposed to be free to roam in jungles and so on.

On the other hand, the dog was always man's best friend. Stone age man always had a dog by his side. In those days, dogs chose to stay with man out of free will. Man fed dog and dog protected man. It was a natural bond (let's say deal: "I scratch your back and you scratch mine"). When I went to India I actually experienced this. I went to a rural village in Gujarat where people still live simply.

They have no idea of the domestic dog and dogs roam around freely. But they have an understanding with them. The village people feed them and the dogs protect their cattle. They don't teach them anything. It's just the natural instinct, but this was never the case with wild animals.
