This has been a popular destination for pre Christmas short breaks for many years, but you can now go for longer breaks of up to a week taking in the Christmas holiday. Imagine you are a small child again, will anything ever compare with meeting Santa on Christmas day after he's finished delivering all his presents?

The magic of this holiday starts from the moment you arrive. Whether you stay in a traditional log cabin, or in a hotel, you are guaranteed the time of your life. There are wonderful sleigh rides through the valleys to Santa's workshop where you get to meet his elves. The children will have the time of their lives, playing in the snow, making snowmen and staring at the sheer wonderment of it all.

On Christmas day an open air service is held in the morning, followed by a great Christmas feast to be enjoyed by all, including Turkey, mince pies, Christmas pudding and a lot of Christmas cheer! Then it's time for the long awaited arrival of Santa, who hands a special gift to each child. Adults of all ages can't help but get caught up in the magic and enchantment of it all. This really is one of those Christmas days that you simply never want to end.

From Boxing Day onwards there is always loads of fun and games organised so the rest of your trip is as enjoyable as the first part. A toboggan or Husky ride will take your breath away. Alternatively, you can just chill out and relax for the remainder of your holiday, before you return home to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Whether you are 6 or 60, the memories of a Christmas in Lapland will stay with you forever.
