Three journalists and opinion writers have been recognised as the winners of Din l-Art Ħelwa's 2009 built and natural heritage awards.

The natural heritage journalism award went to Alan Deidun for a series of articles that explored and described the wealth of flora and fauna as well as their unique history on Filfla, Comino, Fungus Rock and St Paul's Islands in the Sunday Circle.

Fiona Vella won the built heritage journalism award for an article that looked into the history of the Addolorata Cemetery published in It-Torċa.

Lino Bugeja, from the Ramblers' Associations, was granted a diploma for his articles that included one on The Sunday Times on the Grand Harbour's role in history.

The awards were presented by president Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici and Din l-Art Ħelwa vice president Martin Scicluna.
