China's youngsters gave notice that the country's dominance of table tennis is unlikely to be challenged any time soon when they swept the team titles at the world junior championships in Colombia.

China, whose mastery of the senior game is a cause of great concern even to Chinese table tennis officials, have won all but one of the 14 world junior team titles since 2003 - the exception being Japan's boys' title in 2005.

The girls' team were most impressive in Cartagena de Indias last weekend with Wu Yang, Cao Lisi and Chen Meng crushing Japan 3-0 to defend their title and maintain their record of not having dropped a game in the entire tournament.

Boys' number one seeds Fang Bo, Yan An and Lin Gaoyuan had a harder time getting past a determined German trio to retain their title but also ultimately prevailed 3-0.
