The big political parties raised a total of €621,136 in fund-raising events yesterday.

The Nationalist Party raised €410,625 while the PL raised €210,511.

The totals were announced by the party leaders at the end of fund-raising marathons held at their party headquarters which saw supporters making contributions on the phone or by calling personally.

During the activities PN General Secretary Paul Borg Olivier formally launched 'Ping' the PN's mobile phone service, while Labour Party leader Joseph Muscat said the PL will next year celebrate the 90th anniversary of its founding in a big way. Activities will include the unveiling of a new party emblem.
