Cilia, Collange win race at Mtarfa

On a brilliant December morning, and in perfect conditions for racing, Charles Cilia and Jeanne Collange won the fourth and final race in the 2009 Birkirkara St Joseph 5K Series yesterday.

The race, held on the Mtarfa By-Pass, brought to a successful end a calendar of 15 events organised by BSJ this year.

Cilia won the race in 15:51, his personal best this season, ahead of Gerald Grech (16:29) and Johann Galea (17.00).

With women's series leader Joelle Cortis abroad, second-placed Angela Sammut was first Maltese runner home yesterday in 19:16, followed by Carmen Hili (19:30).

The race was won by visiting French triathlete Collange who clocked 18:53.

Cilia and Sammut are the overall winners of the 2009 BSJ series.
