Fourteen foreign students at University recently successfully completed an Erasmus Intensive Language Course in Maltese language and culture. The EILC comprised 60 hours of lectures in Maltese, followed by an assessment at the end of the course.

As part of its cultural component, the course introduced participants to Malta's history, culture and lifestyle.

The students were taken on historical tours of Valletta, Mdina, Mosta and Marsaxlokk, Tarxien Temples and the Domus Romana. A Maltese cultural evening was held, including a talk on Maltese foods and legends, complemented by a reception during which typical Maltese food and drinks were served.

The course was open to Erasmus students following a mobility period at the University during the current academic year.

It was organised by the University's International and EU Office and delivered by the International School of Languages on campus, with support received from the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus).
