The Maltese lira, cent and mil coins, which ceased to be legal tender after January 31, 2008, will not be exchangeable after next February 1, the Central Bank said on Wednesday.

Until this date, coins are exchangeable only at the Central Bank of Malta Annexe at Valletta's St James's Counterguard on weekday mornings.

The Central Bank will continue to exchange Maltese lira notes until January 2018.
