In the first half, Floriana showed the finer touches but their superiority only produced six short corners against one for White Hart, none of which created any danger to the opposing goals.
On 13 minutes, a fierce rising hit by White Hart's Azzopardi was palmed over the bar by Abdilla in goal. In the 27th minute, Floriana's Ivan Magro just missed the upright with a hit on the turn.
The second half was practically the same as the first with the game finally springing to life during the last 15 minutes. In the 55th minute, Abdilla saved a humdinger by Luke Borg Costanzi following a short corner and repeated the feat five minutes later when he saved another bolt from the same player.
From the rebound, the Floriana goalkeeper denied Mark Zahra. White Hart were now pressing forward, pinning their opponents in their own 23-metre area but 29 minutes into the second half, Young Stars scored against the run of play.
Mark Camilleri got the better of Simon Agius in a 50/50 situation, advanced into the shooting area and beat Vassallo Agius with a neat reverse hit.
White Hart were shocked and Floriana easily controlled the remaining five minutes to hold out for the win.

Ta' Soldi Rabat Depiro 1
This was a repeat of the first game as goalmouth action was scarce.
Rabat went all out to secure victory but found it hard to penetrate the Sliema defence.
It took Rabat 14 minutes to produce their first attempt at goal through Josef Antonelli who saw his effort well controlled by Cole. Three minutes later, Rabat's Kevin Micallef hit wide.
In the 20th minute, Jonathan Seychell, who was deputising for Ian Azzopardi in goal, denied Sliema with a well-timed sortie.
The second half produced a lot of midfield play but on 45 minutes, Rabat scored what proved to be the winner.
Standing inside the D, Kenneth Debattista drove a hit across from the acutest of angles only for the ball to end up in the corner of the net off the goalkeeper's pads.
That was that as Rabat kept things under control despite Sliema's efforts to save the game.
