School children who took part in the Eko Skola programme this morning filled the newly rehabilitated St George’s Square in Valletta for a day of activities

These included shows by civil protection officers, the police force and the Armed Forces.

They were given pots with seeds of indigenous Maltese trees, which they have been asked to grow, and had the opportunity to visit the Armoury and the statal rooms of the Grand Master’s Palace.

Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino said that work on the square had taken environmental considerations including through the installation of energy efficient lamps being energy saving and ensuring that the fountain’s water would not be thrown away but recycled

Activities in St George’s Square continue this weekend with a quality wines festival.
