Wasps escaped punishment earlier this week for refusing to play a Premiership match at Sale last month because of the state of the pitch.

It was the third time in three seasons that the London club had been involved in a late postponement but the Premier Rugby panel decided to take no action.

A statement said it was decided that the charges of breaching the regulations were unproven. Sale called the decision "incredibly disappointing".
