Buying food and drink as a Christmas gift might seem like a bit of a cop out, but honestly, it will be greatly appreciated. Here are just a few ideas of food and drink items that you can give as Christmas presents.

Online stores do fabulous Christmas hampers, but they can be quite pricey. These are ideal for giving to a couple as a Christmas gift. These include a great array of luxurious items such as preserves, chocolates, biscuits and vintage champagne.

Grandparents will love to receive gifts from their grandchildren that they have made themselves. Simple biscuits in a shape such as a Christmas tree or snowman with a bit of icing will be much appreciated. Wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty gift box, these will more appreciated than most other gifts.

A nice gift for a gentleman is a good cheese with a bottle of Port or Madeira. This will be greatly appreciated is it's a good bottle, as once again, it would be something they wouldn't buy themselves. For a lady, expensive chocolates and a vintage wine or special fortified wine will be much appreciated.

Liqueur chocolates are always a favourite at Christmas.
Another nice gift is an attractive decorative basket filled with a selection of seasonal fruits. A piece of fruit is very enjoyable at Christmas as an antidote to all the excesses, so a fruit basket will be much appreciated. The basket can be re-used too, effectively giving two gifts in one.

Pick out favourite foods which have a seasonal twist. Many food items at Christmas are limited editions including cranberries and the like. These will greatly enjoyed over the Christmas period. If you are really good cook and know that your creations are well received, mince pies and Christmas puddings in fancy wrappings will be enjoyed by all.

Whatever you decide to give as a food or drink gift, you can be sure it will be much appreciated.
