A man was today ordered to remove air-conditioning equipment from the roof of St Augustine Convent in Valletta after a court found that he had committed an act of spoliation.

The case was instituted in 2005 by Fr Paul Aquilina OSA on behalf of the convent, against Jean Pierre Baldacchino.

The court was told that Mr Baldacchino rented an apartment in St Mark Street from the friars. The property had a window overlooking the roof of the convent, but no other access to the roof.

In July 2005 Mr Baldacchbo installed airconditioning equipment on the roof of the convent and did not remove it despite requests to do so.

The court found in favour of the friars and ordered the removal of the equipment within a month.
