Energy self-sufficient school inaugurated
Pembroke government school, Malta's first energy self-sufficient public building, was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.
The school produces all of its energy through the use of a wind turbine, solar heaters and photovoltaic systems on the roof.
A total of 270 pupils attend the school.
Education Minister Dolores Cristina was present for the inauguration.

RE """""""""" Can you tell us the total expense ? """"""""""and"""""""""""" Energy self-sufficient school inaugurated" costs please?"""""""""""""
Typical pathetic Luddite attitude to progress toward clean energy production.
Reducing everything to a question of MONEY - how utterly disgusting.

Well done indeed. The title is wrong though. The school cannot be self-sufficient with that kind of equipment. A bloated statement.
M.Azzopardi you are correct. One of the few GonziPN promises kept. Well done for quoting GonziPN and not PN. The latter was a Nationalist Party!

From an electrical engineer point of view with a craving for renewable energy sources, this is truly fantastic news! When it's about time to leave my parents' house, i will make sure to have my home totally green, generating its own electricity, recycling grey water and separating waste efficiently...some financial incentive would help although i will still make my part in helping the world turn green.

This deserves only praise, and absolutely nothing else !!!
A VERY BIG WELL DONE.
Where should it all start, a SCHOOL is that perfect place.
Again, a very big well done to the Government of Malta.

For teachers it doesn't make any difference to have palm readers or no...the only days one is away from school is when on sick leave or on holidays...during the rest of the days one has to arrive on time and leave on time...so as a conclusion the suggestion to have palm readers is really a waste of money when they can be used better and more efficiently with other government employees.

C Micallef what sort of employees are you referring to? Teachers are perhaps the only employees who cannot afford to arrive late for work as they are in charge of something in the region of 25-30 young human beings not some machine and they cannot be left unattended.

PALM READERS?
Such a state-of-the-art complex which generates its own electricity and probably offers the latest technologies for learning as well makes me wonder whether it also offers the latest technologies for the daily attendance of its employees such as palm readers or similar gadgets!
