Both the Salina area of the Coast Road and the Birkirkara Bypass have recently been partly resurfaced.
However, while the Birkirkara Bypass works were completed to a smooth and professional standard with the drivers unable to tell which are the old or new surfaces, the same cannot be said for the resurfacing works just completed on the Coast Road.
To call this resurfacing work a pig's ear is an understatement, besides the fact that one can feel a bump on each and every joint of the newly resurfaced areas. The workmanship near the turning to the road leading to Ta' Alla u Ommu is so poor and uneven it is nothing more than an expensive joke.
I am sure that, as usually happens in such contracts, payment will be sanctioned and, as usual, the taxpayer will fork out the money.
These resurfacing works have to be inspected by a dedicated professional and must be redone or the contract awarded to a contractor who can do a good job, just like the one who resurfaced parts of the Birkirkara Bypass!
