Lack of law and order
In recent months, the situation close to Ryan's Pub, St Julians, in terms of law and order observance, has deteriorated rapidly in spite of the police station being only a few metres away. During this weekend two unruly fights broke out on and close to the pub's premises, and things cooled down solely because neighbours had to call in the police for remedial action to be taken. One would have expected the pub's operators to do so themselves!
Until recently, patrons of the pub were often seen flagrantly flouting yellow lines parking regulations with monotonous regularity. Wardens once told me of the abuse they were subjected to by patrons when they dared enter the pub to try and single out such offenders.
While one appreciates the workload that the police in the area have with their added Paceville responsibilities, the deplorable law and order situation in St Julians continues to spin badly out of control.

@Mr. C. Cassar........"another simple and very effective way of dealing with the type of people not needed in soceity anymore..."
So you are telling us that you never went for a drink and drove back home......Oh give me a break........as if they could breathalyse every person who exits a pub when they get in their car!!!!! with those hundreds of people!!!!!!!!!!! this is a classic joke.

These type of situations always occur where there are bars/pubs. You should see the area near Zmerc pub. The peace and quiet that used to be enjoyed in this residential area have been ruined by this pub. Over-revving of cars, over-speeding, shouting, hooting of car horns................

Why do the wardens even think of going into the pub "to try and single out such offenders."?
Surely their task is simple, illegally parked vehicle gets a ticket or gets towed. No need for any contact with the owner of the vehicle whatsoever.
To add to this, these vehicles are illegally parked outside a pub. That means alcohol most likely consumed and driving after that. The police in St Julians being located about 50m away can easily breathalyse those seen coming out of the pub and into a vehicles drivers seat - another simple and very effective way of dealing with the type of people not needed in soceity anymore.
So, two easy solutions - what's stopping the wardens & police applying them?
