Popular ethnic band Tribali dominated the Malta Music Awards on Saturday night, winning four of the five awards it was nominated for.

Tribali swept the awards for best band, best album, best CD cover and best artist image.

Red Electrick was awarded best new artist, Kevin Borg won best male and Carrie Haber clinched the best female and best songwriter awards.

No Bling Show won the best video award with their viral video Luċija U Samuel. They also won the best hip hop award.

Ira Losco was rewarded for her website and veteran rock 'n 'roll singer Freddie Portelli was given a lifetime achievement award.

The best song award went to Airport Impressions for their single Borderline and the collaboration between Tenishia and Winter Moods won the best dance production award.

Forsaken were handed the best heavy metal band award and influential British radio presenter and media personality Mike Reed won the recognition award.

During the show, held at the Ta' Qali Fairs and Convention Centre, Bee Gees group member Robin Gibb was awarded by the President George Abela in recognition of his efforts in honouring the fallen of the war.

To the disappointment of many, he did not live up to rumours that he would perform but to a big round of applause he promised to be back with his brother Barry for a performance next year.
