Ice sculptures have been unveiled in Copenhagen to symbolically melt during the course of the climate summit this week.

Artist Mark Coreth put the finishing touches to his ice sculpture of a polar bear just ahead of the start of the Copenhagen climate conference.

At its heart is a bronze skeleton which will emerge as the ice melts away.

The animals whole existence is under threat because of the melting polar ice caps which has made them a symbol of climate change for many.
