I don't understand Fifa's decision to refer Thierry Henry's infamous handball against Ireland to its disciplinary committee, with the possibility of banning him from some games at the World Cup.

It's a very dangerous precedent to set if they start punishing people retrospectively for handball. Players handball and commit other misdemeanours in every match, but the result is final. Like I said two weeks ago, I don't think Ireland should have had the result of the match against France overturned. If that had happened, every single match would have to be replayed for a wrong decision. That is obviously not the way to go - we need to get decisions right during the game.

However, I agree with Fifa's decision not to use extra linesmen at the World Cup. I don't think having extra officials is the way forward because we would still be relying on the human eye. If we have five officials at a match then how many more officials would we need in the world game? We're struggling to get enough as it is. Video technology for the World Cups and big club games should be brought in because those are the most important.

As I have said in the past, video technology could be used for the big decisions, but from what I understand Fifa will not be introducing it any time soon. Nevertheless, I think technology will be introduced when the Fifa committee changes. I understand that you can't take away the human element of football, but I think contentious goals, red cards and penalties could be referred. This would not take anything away from the game; it would just help referees ensure the big decisions are correct.

Anyone who has ever been to watch a Premier League match would know that the speed of the game is incredible and you can't expect a referee to keep up constantly and see everything from the perfect angle. It's not because the referees are poor that we need technology, it's because they have an impossible job trying to spot everything.

Agent fees are absolutely crazy

Having learnt that £70 million was paid to agents by English clubs during transfer deals in the last two transfer windows, I think the quicker that rules are brought in to stop clubs paying agents the better.

We've all got a role to play. The £70 million going out of the game to agents from transfers doesn't include the money that players pay agents directly, so we're talking hundreds of millions going out of the game every year. To me, it is just absolutely crazy. I can't get my head around it. I can't understand what they do to earn that much money. However, agents have been part of the game for a long time and enjoy a lot of influence, so Gary Neville is not going to stop them by rambling on.

Manchester United paid out comparatively little compared to most other clubs and I think our club is without a shadow of a doubt moving away from paying agents. There is morality and principle involved and clubs like United have got to take the lead and we are doing that. With clubs like ours refusing to pay agents to the level that other clubs are, then people might start realising that the money can go back into football. It can stay with the clubs, it can go into community programmes, or it can go to players. But it should be staying in the game, not going into the pockets of people who, in my opinion, do not deserve it.

Generation game

At Manchester United, we enjoyed two wins last week by beating Portsmouth 4-1 in the league and Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Carling Cup.

Ryan Giggs got a lot of praise after the Portsmouth game and I think he is incredible. He has become a pivotal player now with the way in which he is used. He is so creative on the ball because his passing and vision are fantastic. His level of performance is absolutely brilliant, and the biggest compliment I can pay him is to say that he is simply one of the greatest players.

The manager uses him very well and looks after him - he needs to because Giggs is such an important player. But Giggs also looks after himself anyway, and he always has done. He's just as impressive in training as he is in games and he can still beat a player like he could 10 or 15 years ago.

I haven't spoken to him about being nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year last week, but he deserves it. The award takes a lot of things into consideration and he has been one of the great personalities over the past 15 years, while his form this year has been fantastic. He looks better than ever and he is a credit to himself.

From one generation to the next, and Darren Gibson got the plaudits against Spurs for his two goals.

Gibson is a very good player and would probably get into 95 per cent of Premiership teams. We have Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, Anderson, Giggs and Owen Hargreaves who can play in that central role, so it's difficult for him. But every time he plays he does well and his two goals the other night were no fluke; that is exactly what he does in training and he has a fantastic shot. He also has a good engine and he's very powerful - he really is a good midfield player.

Over to you

It seems that Zoran Tosic is not in the first team reckoning at Manchester United - any particular reason for this? Silvio Scicluna

Zoran has come from Partizan Belgrade in Serbia and has not been with us for so long. It takes a bit of time to settle into the Manchester United first team squad and develop into a United player. I think Zoran is one for the future who is developing at the moment and the club are well aware of that.
