No Christ, no Christmas
In reaction to the controversial judgment by the European Court of Human Rights, Fr Paul Camilleri circulated an e-mail encouraging people to display the crucifix in windows and doors.
I fully agree with him and encourage all people of goodwill to display the crib with the divine baby, because there is no Christmas without a crib.
Christmas is at hand. The crib is what makes the Christmas spirit. If you take Christ away from Christmas, it is not Christmas at all.

But this is exactly what I mean: I don't mind any outward expressions of one's religious sentiments, but such expressions must surely be equated by our inward feelings of goodwill. In this sense, I find ANNA FARRUGIA's comment absolutely alien - ALIEN! - to her outward expression of showing the crucifix outside her home. Show it as much as you wish, but it is worthless, dear lady, if you immediately start saying that people who don't like it can do this, that and the other. In this sense, yes, I totally agree with JEREMY CAMILLERI's comment.
Displaying the Crucifix in answer to the ECHR is one thing, bringing the Crib back into Christmas is quite another. I disagreed and showed my disagreement with the first, which I found very silly; but I am in agreement with the second. Some may say that I am contradicting myself but I am truly not. There IS SENSE in showing the Crib because it is an expression of our faith and it is well-founded in tradition. There can truly be no Christmas without the baby Jesus.

@ STEPHEN SULTANA
Do you think or beleive that there is ONE SINGLE MALTESE PERSON who have no feelings
for XMAS ??
Ann Farrugia is'nt refering to YOU. So please calm down .
Of course we will celebrate XMAS, as normal throughout the forgone centuries, we will put
up cribs and decorate our window, balconies, roads, streets, roundabout's and any other place one may think of , for you and me to feel the XMAS spirit and a reminder that there is peace in the valley.

No New Testament reading or hearing, No Christ.
Know New Testament books readings, Know Christ.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17.
Peace and health to you all.

Anna Farrugia: you can cover your house with crosses inside and out if you wish as that is your right and your prerogative. But before you (once more) tell those who disagree with you to "go back to their country" you may wish to consider that for most, if not all of them, this is their country. In which case, what you are advocating is simply just old fashioned selfishness and intolerance toward fellow Maltese who do not think like you do. Judging by the curia's own figures on church attendance, I'd say that you shouldn't feel so smug about it.

Maybe the beautiful tradition of displaying cribs in our windows should be revived, though I appreciate many still do that, and thus the message is clear. JESUS is the REASON for CHRISTmas.I recall with great nostalgia and affection, the cribs my dear father created, year after year for us to enjoy. He was so very proud of his PASTURI,and they included the Holy Family, people carrying water carriers, shepherds and even Herod and his soldiers..We were even taken to see larger cribs around the island How magical for a young child.I wonder how many parents still offer this to their offspring. It would be something for them to remember forever.

I full agree to display the crucifix in windows, doors etc. Why not? If there are some who don't like it or don't approve, well they can catch the next plane back home or else use the same boat they came in! When in Rome do as the Romans do! Why do countries have to change to accommodate such people? Why do all countries become the same? How mundane some attitudes and mentalities are - get a life the lot of you!
