The restoration of the lantern of the dome of Għajnsielem parish church is nearing completion. On Thursday, the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Loreto to whom the parish is dedicated, the lantern will be crowned with a wooden cross. Almost two metres high and over a metre wide, the teak cross was design by Innocent Centorino of Żurrieq and made by Joseph Mallia of Għajnsielem.
