Plans for temporary marina at Kalkara

A call for proposals to manage and operate a temporary marina in Kalkara, between Villa Bighi and Villa Portelli, has been issued by the Malta Maritime Authority.

Kalkara Creek was identified as one of the sites suitable for the development following a consultation process in July.

The arrangement in Kalkara requires utilising a pontoon infrastructure for the mooring of about 60 pleasure yachts/craft for eight years.

This call for proposals follows another issued last week by the MMA to manage and operate the organised mooring areas in Xemxija Bay and Salina Bay.

The chosen operator at Kalkara will be requested to provide a range of services such as berthing assistance, provision of supplies and other related services.

The successful bidder will have to operate the facility at its own risk and benefit. The MMA will regulate the activities.

Proposals will be received up to January 22. A preview document can be downloaded from www.mma.gov.mt.
