A drug addict who is serving time in prison was jailed for a further 10 months and fined €800 by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano after he was found guilty of trafficking in heroin.
The police arrested Antoine Spiteri, 32, during a search at a home belonging to another man. He was found carrying five sachets of heroin in his car and €423 in cash on December 18, 2006.
In his statement to the police, Mr Spiteri said he had been an addict for the past 10 years and admitted to selling some drugs to sustain his habit. He would buy about three grammes a week. Police, Constable Oliver Borg said a search in Mr Spiteri's house yielded three syringes and two sachets with traces of the drug. They had also found weighing scales.
