Irish striker Declan O’Brien has spoken of his determination to score goals for Valletta after completing his move to the Citizens earlier this week.

In this interview with timesofmalta.com, O’Brien reveals the reasons behind his decision to reject the advances of other clubs in favour of a switch to Valletta and his desire to help his new team win trophies this season.

O’Brien, 29, has joined Valletta on a free transfer after his loan deal with Irish club St Patrick’s Athletic expired last month. During his short but successful stint with St Patrick’s O’Brien struck the two goals that ended Valletta’s run in the Europa League earlier in the season.

The former Drogheda United captain replaces Geert den Ouden as Valletta’s third foreigner. The Dutch forward was released by the Citizens last month after failing to make the desired impact on the team.
