MUSC member donates van to Malta Cancer Foundation

Manchester United fan Charles Poulton has spent the last year organising fund-raising events to purchase a van for the Malta Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to Poulton, the necessary funds have been collected. A stair lift has been fitted in the newly-acquired vehicle to upgrade it to a seven-seater while making it more convenient and accessible to patients.

The Peugeot van was presented to the Malta Cancer Foundation last week during a social activity at the Radisson Golden Sands Hotel.

Being a fervent United supporter and a member of the Manchester United Supporters' Club (Malta), Poulton decided to donate the van in the year that the MUSC is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

John Calleja, MUSC founder, presented the keys of the van to a representative of the Malta Cancer Foundation.

At the same event, the MUSC officially launched a book about its 50-year history.

For the past three years, three members of the MUSC - Karm Galea (research), Julian Tabone (author) and Simon Poulton (graphic design) - have put in endless hours of work to produce this 256-page hardbound book narrating the highs and lows of the oldest Manchester United supporters' club in the world.

"It is a privilege for MUSC that the manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, and club captain Gary Neville, have contributed a foreword for this book," a statement by the MUSC said.
