Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said he believed there was more potential for business between Latvia and Malta in terms of tourism and investment in the island due to its strategic position.

He was speaking during a working visit to one of the smaller members of the EU, which has much in common with Malta.

Maltese investment already existed and was developing and growing, Dr Gonzi said, adding that other areas of common interest had to be identified.

The visit, he said, would surely serve to consolidate an already strong relationship that, nevertheless, had room for growth.

Dr Gonzi met Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis in Riga, where discussions revolved around the experiences of their EU membership and how they could collaborate more.
